Ukrainian drone startup Swarmer has raised $2.7 million in a seed round led by US defense technology company R-G.AI to advance its cutting-edge swarm drone technology, ain reported on Monday, citing Swarmer.
Radius Capital actively participated in the funding round, while Green Flag Ventures and D3, which backed Swarmer after its founding in 2023, also took part in the financing.
Swarmer says it aims to revolutionize drone operations with its Styx.AI platform, which enables a single operator to control large-scale, coordinated swarms of drones. The system has been tested in over 8,000 missions for capabilities in complex environments, including those with electronic warfare threats.
The new funding will accelerate the development of this technology, enabling Styx.AI to manage hundreds of drones simultaneously across different platforms, according to the company. This capability is particularly relevant for military applications, though the technology has broader potential in areas such as infrastructure monitoring, agriculture, and emergency response, it said.
In August, Swarmer received a UAH 2 million ($48,000) grant and backing from the Ukrainian defense tech cluster BRAVE1.
