Ukraine will become a vital part of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the Middle Corridor, after a ferry service between Ukraine and Georgia is restored, Ukrainian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Yuriy Husyev said.
"We expect the ferry service between Ukraine and Georgia to be restored soon," Husyev said Wednesday during the opening ceremony of the Black and Caspian Freight Forum 2024, as cited by news agency Trend. "This will allow our country to become an important part of the global Middle Corridor and transit route."
The Middle Corridor is a key logistics pathway that connects Europe and Asia, offering an alternative to the traditional overland routes like the Northern Corridor through Russia. It stretches from China, traverses Central Asia and the Caspian Sea, continues through the Caucasus region, and links to Europe via Turkey.
The transit time for cargo shipped via the Middle Corridor from China to Europe typically takes around 15-20 days.
