Ukraine receives first €4.5 billion from €50 billion EU aid package

Ukraine has received €4.5 billion of the €50 billion in European Union aid approved last month and is slated to receive another €1.5 billion next month if it meets certain milestones, Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said.

The initial funding, meant to help cover budget spending, was transferred at the same time as the Ukrainian government presented the European Commission with its plan for reforms required to continue receiving the assistance.
