Reconstruction of residential buildings in the western Ukrainian city of Lviv damaged by this week's deadly Russian missile and drone strikes will cost more than UAH 100 million ($2.7 million), said Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi.
Some 154 buildings were damaged in the attack Wednesday, with 10 needing extensive restoration and some completely destroyed, Sadovyi said in an interview on Espreso TV. He said the city has already started repair work, relocating residents from six severely damaged buildings and covering their temporary housing costs.
"The city's housing stock was attacked," he said. "There is not a single infrastructure facility here. More than 10 houses need serious restoration work, some were completely destroyed due to direct hits from missiles or drones. Our task is to restore all the houses.
The attack claimed seven lives, including a mother and her three daughters. The victims were among those trapped in their apartment building. The Lviv strike closely followed a devastating attack on a military institute in Poltava, central Ukraine, that killed 51 people and injured more than 200.
